Far from where?
A Literary and Musical Evening about Origins, Home, and Being on the Move
Robert Palfrader & Roman Grinberg Trio
Every person comes from somewhere. Some from the neighborhood,
others from “far away” – geographically, culturally, or internally. Where does
home begin? Where does being a stranger end? And when can one say that someone
truly “belongs”?
In this program, as moving as it is humorous, word and music, biography and fiction,
Jewish soundscapes and Austrian life realities come together.
Robert Palfrader, known as an actor, cabaret artist, and keen observer of
human absurdities, reads, tells stories, and reflects with wit
and depth on origins, identity, and the eternal search for
belonging. His texts span the spectrum between subtle irony and
touching thoughtfulness.
The Roman Grinberg Klezmer Trio – with Roman Grinberg (vocals & piano), Sasha Danilov (clarinet), and Alexander Shevchenko (accordion) – gives the evening its musical soul: virtuoso and movingly performed Yiddish songs, klezmer melodies, and original compositions merge into a vibrant soundscape between melancholy and joy of life. Their music tells of longing for distant places and returning home, of yearning, laughter, and the quiet beauty of forgotten melodies – a journey through sound worlds where pain and zest for life, memory and the present tenderly embrace each other. ‘Far From Where?’ is a journey into stories and sounds – about what shapes us, about differences and similarities. An evening between laughter and reflection, full of charm, depth, and humor..
