Erik Trauner and his Mojo Blues Band , founded in 1977 , are celebrating no less than 40 years of existence.
Around 5000 appearances – 40 years “On the Road” without bending or breaking!
The story of a band that, despite the temptations of the music business, has always remained true to the blues and to itself.
Blues is the healer! – Blues as medicine?
“You should be on prescription,” a Mojo fan once remarked after a concert, and that could be the secret behind MBB’s enduring popularity at home and abroad. The mixture of handmade, honest music, coming from the heart, paired with a good pinch of humor seems to be an organically grown recipe with a guarantee of success.
Even if not rigorously purist, MBB’s music has always been characterized by traditional blues and is ultimately proof of the power and timelessness of this musical form and that it by no means belongs in the storeroom of music history.
Extensive tours have taken the musicians through almost all of Europe and even across the pond to the country of origin of the blues. Collaborations with countless U.S. legends such as Champion Jack Dupree, Big Jay Mc Neely, Leon Thomas, Jimmy Mc Crackling etc. are proof of their ability to hold their own internationally as an accompanying band. “The blackest white boys I’ve ever heard!” the legendary blues singer “Taildragger” once ennobled the Mojo Boys. A compliment that you can certainly live with, as you have admittedly borrowed the music of a foreign culture.
From Sadness to Gladness! – Are blues musicians just snivelling whiners wallowing in self-pity? – “Even if artists usually tend to fuel their own egos, this egotism of the artist should take a back seat when they go on stage. He should mainly be there for his audience and try to make people forget their everyday worries for a few hours.” – Another life motto of Erik Trauner, who was even recognized by the state with the award of the “Golden Cross of Merit” of the Republic of Austria.
The Blues will never die! – We wish Mojo BB all the best for the years to come and congratulate them warmly!
