Biography: Prof. Heinz Marecek, born on September 17, 1945 in Vienna, graduate of the Reinhardt Seminar, actor and director, engagements at the Volksoper, Theater der Jugend, Landestheater Graz, until 1998 in the ensemble of the Theater an der Josefstadt. Numerous film and TV roles, including in “Der Bockerer”, “Schwejk” and “Die liebe Familie”. His fans can currently see him in the TV series “SOKO Kitzbühel” and “Die Bergretter”.
During the filming-free period, the audience favorite is on tour in Austria with his current, very funny stage programs “Mein Kollege, der Affe”, “Das ist ein Theater!” and “Ein Fest des Lachens”, and is enthusiastically acclaimed by audiences everywhere. The artist is also involved in new translations of English and American plays and frequently directs (most recently “Guys and Dolls”) at the Vienna Volksoper.
Heinz Marecek is also extremely successful as an author. Recent bestsellers include “Das Fest des Lachens”, “Das ist ein Theater!”, “Ich komme aus dem Lachen nicht heraus”, “Leben ohne Rezept”, “Lauter lachende Lyrik” and most recently “Feuerwerk der Pointen” together with Michael Horowitz in September 2020. On 3 May 2018, Heinz Marecek was awarded the “Golden Medal of Honour for Services to the City of Vienna” by City Councillor Dr. Andreas Mailath-Pokorny at Vienna City Hall.
