In the south of Lower Austria, just 90 minutes from Vienna, lies our Parkhotel branch – in the middle of one of Austria’s most attractive recreational areas. Our hotel can be reached both by car and by public transport. The nearest train station is Breitenstein. Payerbach/Reichenau train station is approx. 15 kilometers away. Easily accessible by bus or with the hotel’s own shuttle.
A special kind of feel-good offer awaits you in our small, fine wellness area – switch off and relax in our herbal sauna, in the Finnish sauna or simply unwind in the relaxation area.
Release tension, do something good for your body and recharge your batteries – relax on our massage table with addullation therapy.
Walking sticks or snowshoes are available for hire.
We build our Knappenrast, which fully reflects the historical mining tradition of the Rax region and thus becomes a unique event location. Company outings, private celebrations, final evenings of seminars, morning get-togethers or weekend highlights for the region: With the Knappenrast you can fulfill all your wishes. Our specially created house beer, the “Grubenzwerg”, will also invite one or the other to stay longer.
Our hotel in Reichenau an der Rax has been undergoing renovation since October 1, 2025. The renovated hotel is expected to open in 2027.

A bowling alley, an asphalt track, a table tennis table, a table football table and a darts machine provide the best entertainment. We also offer a variety of board and card games for rent.
The Dependance Parkhotel is located in the middle of the fantastic mountain and forest scenery of the UNESCO World Heritage region. The approach via the Adlitzgräben is just as scenically impressive as the extension from Höllental over the Kreuzberg to Klamm and on to Breitenstein. From here, you can reach Semmering in 5 minutes by car and cruise along the old Semmering mountain road into Styria.
Of course you also have the possibility to park your motorcycle in our garage!

The Dependance Parkhotel is nestled in the stunning mountain and forest scenery of the UNESCO World Heritage region. Look out from the restaurant and rooms onto the imposing viaducts of the Ghega cable car. At 831m above sea level, we are also above the fog line. Well signposted hiking trails invite you to explore the railroad hiking trail – Kreuzberg – the Burgurine gorge and much more. You will also find well-developed mountain bike trails right on the doorstep.
In 1844 Demeter von Constantinovics acquired a farm at the foot of the Rax. He had it converted into probably one of the first summer villas in the Reichenau Valley and named it “Villa Trautenberg” after the foothill of the Raxalpe.
In 1867, the composer Friedrich von Flotow acquired it and made minor alterations. Flotow worked here on the opera “L’Ombre”, which had its premiere in Paris in 1870. In 1873 he sold the villa to the banker Viktor Alexander von Erlanger. Viktor Erlanger was accepted into the home association of the community and due to many acts of charity, Erlanger Park and the Erlanger Cross were named after him. After the marriage of his daughter Adolfine to Alfred Count Salm-Hoogstraeten, the property passed to the Salm couple in 1891 and then to their daughter-in-law Maud Salm in 1925. In 1941, Villa Trautenberg was requisitioned by the German Wehrmacht and was the base of a Luftwaffe construction battalion.
Maud Salm sold the entire property to the Chamber of Labor of Lower Austria in 1950. In 1978 the building was removed in its entirety and a recreation home was built. 1980 was the ceremonial opening of the Josef-Fuchs-Heim, which was extended in 1994 by another reconstruction with seminar rooms. Since 1995 the recreation home has been run as Parkhotel Hirschwang. In 2002, modernization was necessary and another reconstruction took place.
The last renovation took place in 2016 and we offer perfect conditions for people seeking relaxation and inquisitive seminar visitors alike. Located at the foot of the Rax in the middle of a park with ancient trees, here you can enjoy nature, recharge your batteries and train your mind.
